Day 17

We covered about 23 miles today, bringing our total to date up to up 381. It was sunny today, but temps remain comfortable in the 70s.

Met a couple from Oregon today, Torren and Angelica. Had a nice time visiting with them for a while. Saw a few other pilgrims, but not very many. The hotel tonight has some cool design features like decorations in the stairway, including a stairway with giant ant models on the walls. Our room had a zebra headboard on one bed and a Holstein for the other. Ongoing challenges of finding meals for dinner earlier than 8:00! We have found this is a common challenge for pilgrims. We all want to eat and sleep before the places open for dinner!

Lisa-Beautiful sunrise to start our hike today.

Lisa- I can’t get enough of the rippling brooks we pass frequently each day!

Lisa- Another Norfolk Island pine today! I wish I could grow one in Nebraska, but we are zone 5, and they grow best in zone 9 or warmer.

Lisa-The ocean views continue to be the highlight of each day.

Lisa-The flowers are so abundant and beautiful!

Lisa-Not sure what this is supposed to be, but I like it.

Lisa-Another U.S. couple! Torren and Angelica from Oregon. Torren is an artist who goes by the name “The Redheaded Yeti”. Of course I love the Bigfoot reference 😉

Lisa-A route marker today. 381 miles down. 138 miles to Santiago. It’s getting close!
