Day 20

Lisa writing today. It was a long, rather boring day. We covered 30 miles with 5062 feet of elevation. Total miles so far is 462.

We walked on a lot of pavement through eucalyptus forest and farm land. We briefly talked with a young couple from the Catskills in New York and Yolanda from Lithuania.

I tried to get a picture of the sunrise, but it was too cloudy. Rain threatened most of the day, but we only had to wear our ponchos for 20 minutes.

This is the kind of path we like to walk on, but it was short and lead back to pavement.

An up close of a slate roof.

I’m still enjoying the animals along the way.

I love the succulents in this cute wheel barrow!

This kitty was from the wheel barrow house and was so friendly and wanted his ears rubbed.

                                 More kitties

We each eat 3 or more pieces of  fruit each day. I can’t say enough about how good the stone fruits are! Apricots, plums, peaches and flat peaches. The oranges and pears are wonderful too!

During the last 5 miles today, we were walking on the shoulder of a somewhat busy road. A produce truck was stopping along the way to sell his goods to locals. As we passed an older lady waiting for the truck, she spoke to us, and said, “Suerte y Victoria!” (Luck and Victory) while she held up two fingers in the letter V. The support of locals to the pilgrims along the Camino is so heart warming and appreciated!
