Day 21
Today we had to travel a few miles off the normal path to find lodging for the night. We are now within 100 kilometers or 62 miles of Santiago. People must complete 100 km to receive a the certificate of completion in Santiago de Compostela. I think the lodging places are more full in this section as a result of the heavier demand. There are also less cities and towns, so less services are available. Today we are north and west of the normal route, tomorrow we are south and east of that route. By Saturday night we are back on the normal route.
We have heard of a few people who think completing that last 100km, and getting the certificate is a means of earning entry to heaven. We are so grateful to know that our path to heaven is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ! Sharing His love as we journey has been part of the fun part of this trip.
We walked for a few miles once again with Toren and Angelica. Having someone interesting we can visit with helps the time go more quickly!
Lisa-The first three pictures are paths we walked on today. They were perfect today after so much pavement yesterday. The dirt was a little damp, which keeps them from being dusty, but not too wet to be slick or muddy.
Lisa- We’ve seen gardens and fields of kale the last few days. We wish we would see some kale on the menus in this area.
Lisa-Only got a pic of one kitty today.
Lisa-We walked beside this stream for a few miles today.
Lisa-This bottle and jug boat looks like a fun time for some kids.
Lisa-Keith is loving these convenient foot baths they have here. Our feet and lower legs are so dirty at the end of the day. (Just kidding-we know what these really are).
Lisa-we have learned that a Banco here is what we call an ATM. So we’re guessing that a Banco Pastor must be an automated pastor. This has our church treasurer thinking, that maybe we could save some money by getting one of these🤣

I wondering what an octopus taste like? You have had it often.. fish taste? Nice pictures.. I like that stream picture! You are almost finish pilgrims.. have a good dinner and night! D and L
ReplyDeleteLisa- Octopus is similar to shrimp or scallops with a mild flavor.
DeleteYou’ve so got this. Max 3 days. The Credential awaits.Santiago de Compostella is very large . The gigantic square where people gather in the evening close to the Cátedral is lively. singing can go on till 4 in the morning. buenas noches
ReplyDeleteAm sure pastor Chuck will have some interesting comments
ReplyDeleteI love the stream photos. Looks peaceful. You mentioned how dirty your feet get. Remember you took a picture of your shoes the first day? Would love to see a photo of your shoes when you reach the end! :-) ~Deb Dick

Oh man!!!! That picture of the “foot bath” had me cracking up. In all seriousness, it’s a shame we don’t have bidets in the US. After traveling in Europe I have fallen in love with the cleanliness they provide (and another fresh water source … hahaha)
