Day 24 - We reached Santiago!

Our walk into Santiago was crowded, and not much different from the walk yesterday: it was dark at first, and we walked with others all making their way into the city.
When reached the cathedral, it was about 10:30 am. There were tours going on, and since it is Sunday, I assume there was mass at various times. Since we don’t follow the Catholic traditions of faith, the cathedral is not a major draw. It is a large stately building, and we did snap some photos in front. We went to the Camino office and got our official certificates of completion. We will revisit that area in a few days when we return to Santiago.
Our walk in was relatively short, 13 miles, and since we have some extra days, we are extending our walk to Finisterre, or the end of the world. This point has a lighthouse and has the distinction, according to the internet, of being the lighthouse in Europe which is closest to the United States.
Anyway. We walked 12 miles to Negreira, out toward Finisterre, at the end of the land. Then we taxied back to our hotel, and relaxed for the evening. Tomorrow we will taxi back out to that town, and walk on. Two more days walking and we should find the end of the land in part of Spain!
Lisa-We’ll let you know if the earth is flat๐
Lisa-We only saw one kitty on way into Santiago today.
Lisa-This dog was watching all the pilgrims on their way to the completion of their journey.
Street scenes as we near the cathedral.
Lisa-We did it!
Lisa-We both agree that we wouldn’t want to have done this journey with anyone else!
Lisa-After walking out of Santiago, we started on more beautiful paths again.
Lisa-We’re at a nice hotel tonight and I was able to get some grilled veggies. Plus I had some mango ice cream and coconut macaroons.
Lisa-Keith had empanadas and Caesar chicken salad.

Woohoo. Congratulations ๐๐๐พ๐
