Day 16
We taxied out to where we left off yesterday, had a breakfast and started walking. Most of the day was in woods and some farm land. The sea is usually pretty close and we see it from time to time.
We walked with Martin from Barcelona for a couple of hours, then went the last 4 miles to our final destination, an albergue which used to be a train station. They offered a very tasty meal for guests, so we had dinner with 4 others who were also staying here.

Lisa-Other pilgrims frequently ask us why we chose the Norte path. Most people start with the Frances way, which is flatter and easier. We tell them that we wanted a physical challenge and also to see the ocean, since we live in the middle of the US and don’t have an ocean near us.
Martin from Barcelona
Lisa-We heard some American music coming from up a road while we were in a small town and looking for lunch. We followed the music and found this food truck.
Lisa-Our lunch was so yummy. Toasted bread with tomato, fresh burrata cheese and pesto.
Lisa- This is the albergue we are staying in tonight. It is a converted train station. We are in a room with four bunk beds. We are both on top bunks, across from each other.
Lisa-We ate the pilgrim meal at the albergue. I didn’t get a picture of the salad, but it was amazing. I had the ratatouille over rice. It was so good! We haven’t had a lot of vegetables on our trip and this was just what I had been craving. Keith had a pork ragu over mashed potatoes. We traded bites and his was delicious as well.
Lisa- A sign coming into the town we are in for the night.
Lisa-Bicycle planters have been popular in the last few towns we walked through today.

What a delightful walk today! I think today is my favorite! D and L
